I have a task that is set for Repeat Monthly. Now that the date has passed, can I delete it - and it will show up again next month, or must I change the date manually to the next month?

If you mark it complete, it will show up next month again with the new due date. The exact date will depend on whether you have it set to repeat from Due Date or Completion Date.
