why does the 'Hotlist' show deferred taks?

a few of my deferred items have very old due dates on them, simply because I'd like to know their original schedule at a glance. I suppose this is bad form in the GTD way of thinking, but it works for me. since I've marked them as deferred in one way or another, I would think they would automatically fall off the Hotlist.
am I crazy? should I just start putting those old dates in the notes?

The hotlist only looks at the priority and due-date. It does not factor in the status of the task, although this may be something that we add in the future.

thanks for the clarification! for now, I'm doing my own 'hotlist' by marking all such items as 'active' and watching that category.
