I must be missing something but I cannot get the text for tasks imported from toodledo to be a specific colour even though that colour is defined in the PI task calendar.

I am using a Nexus 7 with the latest version of jelly bean. Sync is provided through PI TOODLEDO.

Any help would be much appreciated. The colours seem to work for all other calendars.

I'm guessing that PI does not mean 3.1415926. ;)

Have you contacted the makers of Pocket Informant?
