Am loving this service more and more every day. I want to migrate all my secure personal information over as well but have concerns about security.

Does Toodledo offer a secure connection via web browser? (https?) When sync'ing with my iPhone how secure is the connection? Would anyone recommend it as a safe place to store personal info?

Yes, we do have secure https connections in your web browser. This is a feature that is reserved for our Pro users.

The iPhone app uses a secure connection by default when syncing.

I would like to tag on to this question --- even with "Pro" --- is there a way to password protect some of the data in "notebook" --- so I could store some of my passwords there?.

I would recommend a ready-made service for such a thing, like http://www.passpack.com (I'm an enthusiastic user). Much better than a general-purpose todo/notebook system, which is admittedly great for tons of stuff! But there is no encryption system in Toodledo outside of transferring it to your browser. PassPack doesn't even have access to your data on their own server, it's all encrypted/decrypted right in your browser.

The slowdown using the encrypted connection in my case is perceptible, but not very significant. It probably depends on the speed of your connection, the browser you use, and the amount of information on the page you are viewing.

One way I've found to secure my sensitive information is to use TrueCrypt (available for Windows, MAC, etc.) which allows you to easily create a virtual encrypted drive on your computer. You put your sensitive info there. Do a Google search for TrueCrypt and you'll find all kinds of review etc. The algorithim used is excellent (according to those who know a lot more about encryption than I do - i.e. most anyone) and it really works.
