I am running Vista and outlook will not automaticaly export to toodledo. Files exported in csv format are not legible. What am I doing wrong
Thanks |

I'm not sure what you mean by "automatically export", but did you follow these instructions?: http://www.toodledo.com/info/help_outlook.php
When you say they are not legible, do you mean Toodledo will not accept them, or that when you open them up, they make no sense? Is it possible you are trying to import a field that Toodledo does not recognize? |

What happens when you use the Toodledo import to open the file? Do they make no sense in Toodledo? There are several fields that are not used here (percent complete, etc.), and others that do not translate exactly, and since I have not used Outlook in a while, I don't know if Toodledo understands how to convert them or not (Flag to Star for example). I'm sure when Toodledo gets to this question, they will be able to help.
What you should see is a series of columns for your different attributes, and at the top should be their Outlook names, and above that a list for you to choose what to import them as. Priority can be priority; subject I can't remember, but it does not appear that you have the task names listed so is that what subject is? If so import it as Task; Status can be status although I don't know how unsupported status types will come through; Due date is Due date; %complete doesn't work here so you'll have to leave it out; Category could be Folder or context or tag depending on how you use them, in folder should be no folder but you could just import as folder and then change them all with multiedit; Flag status is Star. I know that's a lot of info. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Also, in case you were not aware, there is a syncing tool that allows you to actually sync between Outlook and Toodledo, even better than automatic export. It is developed by a third party, and you can check it out here: http://www.toodledo.com/info/help_outlook.php Edit: That is the wrong link, here is the sync tool: http://www.chromadrake.com/ChromaticDragon/software/ToodledoSyncInfo.aspx This message was edited May 04, 2009. |

Anders has provided some helpful advice. I just wanted to make it clear than doing a CSV export/import as you are trying to do is a one-time thing. If you want ongoing, constant syncing, you'll need to get the free third-party tool that Anders linked above.
