Question regarding statuses

Hello,
I understand that statuses are divided into 2 groups, active and deferred.
Within each of these groups, is there any difference between each status type or are they labels only? ie None vs Next Action vs Active vs Planning.
This is not a feature request, I think labels is all that is necessary - just looking for a definitive answer. Thanks.

Within the two groups, there is no special treatment given. So, it is just for your own labeling purposes.
