There is apparently some way of doing this, but as a new user, I'm afraid I'm at a loss: how do I sort my folders? I'd like to arrange them in an order of my choosing, or at least alphabetically. That option might be right in front of me, and I apologize if it is, but I just can't seem to find it.

Not right in front of you, but directly to the left of there. On the left sidebar (click the arrow if you have it shut), there is a folder icon that says "Folders & Contexts". Click on "Folders" to manage them, then you can sort them manually or have them automatically alphabetized.
