Is there a way where you can get an alert like an email or sms when someone assigns you a task? Otherwise you don't know when you get one.

This isn't currently possible, but it is on our to-do list. One way to detect new tasks is to look at the "recently added" list from time to time.

Good idea I will do that for now. Look forward to this feature or the collaborative sharing in a list. That would solve the issue for me as well.
