Notebook App on Desktop

Is there any way (or are there any plans in progress) for having a desktop application to simplify adding notes on the PC rather than using the Web interface? Ideally, someone would write an application that does for Notes what Chromatic Dragon did for tasks.
Anybody know anything about this?
