Turn Off Date Completed Column

The "Date Completed" column has suddenly appeared on my task list that I can not seem to turn off. I'm sure it was never there before! Is it a new "feature"?
This column wastes too much screen real estate especially as I am only interested in tasks that I have not completed (so it's always an ugly blank column). How can I get rid of it as there is no ability to turn it on or off in the usual field selection screen?

That column is only visible if you are sorting by date completed. Try sorting by another field and it will go away.
