Posted Nov 23, 2008 in: Outlook Client Micropledge Project - Outlook Security Popup

An alternative to using a tool like MAPILab's "Advanced Security for Outlook" is to install an Antivirus software that monitors Outlook. Outlook wiil not display the security prompt if you have an active antivirus software.
Fortunately, for those who do not want to pay for a bloated antivirus tool like Norton's or Mcafee, AVG (http://free.avg.com/) offers a free edition that will also do the trick. I only just installed it, so I can't vouch for how effective it is at protecting against viruses. But it's free so I can't complain and it stopped the annoying Outlook security popup! UPDATE: I was wrong. AVG does NOT prevent the popup. After I rebooted, even though AVG was active and running, the security popup appeared again. I installed MAPILab and all is good.
