Posted Nov 28, 2016 in: Ultimate To-Do List Now Supports Automation Through Tasker
Score: 0
Today, we are announcing the release of Ultimate To-Do List version 3.8, which supports a plugin for the Tasker automation app for Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm). Potential uses for this plugin include:
- Creation of a "call back" task when you miss a call. - Automatic sending of a SMS message to someone when a task is marked as complete. - Automatically open a list of errands when you leave your home. - Automatically create a task when you receive a text message. The following actions are supported. These can be triggered when events occur that you specify. - Create a new task. You can specify the title, note, dates, reminder, repeating pattern, folder, and many other fields. - Mark a task as complete. - Display a task list of your choice. The plugin also provides a Tasker event which will be triggered when a chosen task is marked as complete. Upon completion, you can have Tasker perform a series of actions. Note that, if the task is marked as complete from Toodledo, you will need to wait for the next sync for those actions to occur. Variable replacement is also supported in the title and note fields of tasks. For example, you can include %CNAME in the title to insert the name of the last person who called. The plugin is available as a paid add-on for $2.99 (US). |

Posted Dec 10, 2014 in: Ultimate To-Do List Version 3 : UI Overhaul, Voice Mode, & More
Score: 1
Ultimate To-Do List version 3 has just been released on Google Play, and will be available on the Amazon and Blackberry app stores in a few days. The new release includes a complete overhaul of the app's user interface - to match Android 4 and 5 standards and conventions, and to provide easier access to key features.
General Improvements: The user interface has been completely redesigned and modernized. A new voice mode is available that supports creating, editing, and reading tasks. Smartphone and tablet editions have been combined into a single app. One license purchase will unlock the app for unlimited use on any device you own. Various split-screen options are available for larger devices, including 2 pane and 3 pane layouts. Separate layouts can be chosen for portrait and landscape. The license is now available as an in-app purchase, making it easier to transfer to a new device, and improving multi-device support. Current license holders are not required to upgrade. Task Improvements: Easier access to multi-select mode, using a long-press on a task. Multi-select mode now supports changing of contexts. Dividers are now displayed in the list based on the first sort order. Note Improvements: A multi-select mode is now available, allowing multiple notes to be moved between folders or deleted. Notes now have separate view and edit modes, making it much easier to view a long note with fast scrolling and not having the keyboard get in the way. Widget Improvements: New widget themes are available for Android 4 and up. These include options to add, edit, and mark tasks complete directly from the widget. You can now copy the settings from another view into the widget's view. Notification and Reminder Improvements: You can now snooze a reminder or mark a task as complete directly from the notification. The notification priority can be adjusted, and an option is available to use ongoing notifications (which can only be removed using the app). |

Hi Randy. Our company develops Ultimate To-Do List. If you have any specific comments or suggestions for improvement, then feel free to post them here or e-mail us at [email protected].
If you make frequent settings changes to the hotlist (or any view in the app), you may want to consider saving these as a custom view. When viewing a task list, press the menu key and choose the "save this view" option to do this. The view will then appear in the "My Views" area for quick access. If you last used the app prior to our user interface updates at the end of October, you may want to give it another try. We made some substantial improvements at that time. If you contact us, we can set up another free trial if necessary. Also, in case you haven't seen it, the app has 2 themes. If the default Dark theme does not appeal to you, you can switch to the Light theme in the app's settings. |

Score: 0
Today I noticed an issue with the less than symbol (<) when downloading tasks or notes in JSON format. If this symbol appears in a task's note or in a notebook's note it is being sent from Toodledo's server as "& lt;". As a result, if someone types a < into a note it appears in our application as & lt;.
I checked the HTTP response string our application is receiving from Toodledo, and confirmed that the error is originating from Toodledo's server. Here is an example of what our app is receiving: [{"num":"1","total":"1"},{"id":"992073","title":"Test Note 7 < >","folder":"1304755","added":"1285541734","modified":"1316444965","private":"0","text":"& lt; > &"}] The title of the notebook is "Test Note 7 < >" and the note is "< > &". The issue does not affect titles or other symbols such as > or &. This message was edited Sep 19, 2011. |

Score: 0
I have managed to log some occurrences of the problem, and it looks like your theory about the database updates may be correct.
Each time, our app receives the "Invalid Key" error and then pauses for 2 seconds and tries the same request again. On the second attempt, no error occurs and the sync runs normally. |

I've adjusted the software to delay for 2 seconds after receiving an "Invalid Key" error, and then try again. If the second attempt succeeds, then we will know that your theory about the database updates is correct. This problem doesn't happen very often, so it may take a few days to see if this is the case. I'll let you know.

Score: 0
We are migrating to version 2 of the API and, on rare occasions, we are seeing the following odd behavior:
At the end of a 4 hour time slot our application requests a new token and receives it without problems. The token is used to generate a new key. Immediately after generating the new key, our application attempts to retrieve account information. The attempt fails due to receiving an "Invalid Key" error from Toodledo's server. The scheduled sync is aborted. One hour later, at the next scheduled sync, our application tries again to get account information using the exact same key. This time it succeeds. All remaining API calls for the scheduled sync have no issues. Using the online tool in the API documentation, I have double-checked to make sure that our application is generating the correct key. Nothing is changing at the Toodledo account during this time. The password is the same. The problem only occurs right after a new token is obtained. It has not happened in the middle of the 4 hour time slot. Any ideas what could cause the Toodledo server to reject a key at one point and then accept the same key an hour later? |

Posted Apr 29, 2011 in: Support for simple repeat options in API version 2
Score: 0
We are currently in the process of moving our Android application to version 2 of the API. Today I noticed a small usability issue with the repeat field. If our app sends a task to Toodledo with a simple repeat value of "daily" or "weekly", this appears on the web site with an advanced repeat string of "every 1 day" or "every 1 week". While is is equivalent, a user would probably expect to see the dropdown list with one of the simple repeat options selected instead.
The API documentation for the repeat field does not explicitly mention a way to send a simple repeat option. Is this possible, and if not will this be supported at some point? This isn't a major issue, of course, but it would be good to provide our users with the most consistent experience possible. |

Our company is pleased to announce the release of Ultimate To-Do List - Tablet Edition. This is a new app based on our existing smartphone edition, but designed for the larger screen size of current Android tablets such as the Galaxy Tab, as well as upcoming tablets such as the Motorola Xoom.
The tablet edition includes all features of the current smartphone edition, and features a resizable split-screen view. One side has a tree view that can be expanded and collapsed as desired, and the other side includes more detailed information on tasks and notes. Screen shots can be found on the web site, at http://www.todolist.co. One of the goals of Ultimate To-Do List (UTL) is to provide support for Toodledo features that are hard to find in other Toodledo Android apps. These include: - Goals - The notebook - Advanced repeating patterns - Expected length field - Actual length / timer functionality - Due date modifiers (optional and exact date) A 14 day free trial is available. After this, a license may be purchased for $5. If you have already purchased the smartphone version for your tablet, you can upgrade to the tablet edition at no charge. See the FAQ section on the web site for details. We recognize that many Android tablets, such as those produced by Archos, do not have access to the Android Market. Therefore, UTL is available both from the Android Market and from our web site. We have also enabled online purchases that do not require access to the Android Market. Other key features include: - Multiple account support - Filter your list on any task field - Up to 3 levels of sorting (on any task field) - Configure which fields display in your task list - Saved searches and custom views of your tasks - Optional nagging alarms remind you again if you don't hear the sound or feel the vibration - Custom ringtones and vibrate patterns - Snooze function for alarms - Subtask support without a pro account. (To sync subtasks, you will need a pro account, however.) - Home screen widgets, each with independent filter, sort, and display settings Our web site, http://www.todolist.co, offers additional information. Here, you will also find a link to our discussion forum, where you can request and vote for new features. This message was edited Jan 25, 2011. |

Currently, tasks with no due date are sorted at the top of the list, prior to tasks with a due date. We have had some requests to put undated tasks at the end. This will be added as an option in a future release.

The app is designed to repeat alarms when a task is marked as completed. There is a scenario in which this will not happen though. For example, consider a repeating daily task that is set to repeat from the due date (as opposed to the completion date). If a day is missed and the task is marked as complete after the due date, then the task moves forward according to the repeating pattern, which may place the due date/time for the task in the past. The alarm may also be in the past, resulting in the alarm never appearing on your device. To fix this, adjust the task to repeat from completion date instead of due date.
We just released version 1.1.2 today which fixes the sort order issue with the star. When sorting on star, the starred items now appear before the unstarred items. Date sorting is set up to show the earliest dates first, since they usually represent the tasks that need to be worked on first. However, implementing a reverse sort is on our to-do list. :) As for the other features requested, we will, as always, implement them based on customer demand. We're keeping track of all of our customer requests and generally implementing the ones with the most votes first. |

Most likely, subtasks are set to display indented and the parent is filtered out of the list. To show the missing subtasks, press Menu -> Display Options and choose the option to display subtasks as "not indented".

We chose dark text on a white background because it is easier to read when outdoors in bright sunlight. We have had a few requests to also support a black background, since it saves power on devices that use AMOLED screens. I expect this to be implemented as an option in early 2011.

Ultimate To-Do List (http://www.ToDoList.co) for Android works around this limitation by allowing you to view and sync multiple Toodledo accounts simultaneously.
It's not quite the same thing as Toodledo's sharing feature, because you have to know the other person's e-mail and password, and you get full read/write access to the other account. It's as close as we can get within the current limits of the API. |
