+1 for this. Remember the Milk has this implemented; I wonder if that can provide inspiration :)

Overall love TD's iphone app!

Having the folder order sync to my custom order is such a big improvement because I manage my workflow through folders. Thank you!

I understand that ToodleDo does not have an Inbox feature, and there are a zillion ways one can create one in the web app (e.g., create a folder; use no folder; use no status; etc etc). I am at peace with this.

However, it would be helpful to have an Inbox in the Web app that is easy to access. Any of the above methods require a lot of clicks to get to your un-handled tasks (e.g., click folder, then no folder). I would love to see an Inbox up with the Hotlist and Starred. Here's how I'd implement it:

1. Have a setting that Inbox = no folder or no status or both (this would cover probably 90% of the ways people have implemented an inbox) OR
2. Allow users to select one folder or status to promote to the top area where the Hotlist is.

This would not require a major redesign (I guess) and would solve a need expressed by many.

I solved my own mystery. That option is available both online and in the app - but only if (duh) you have Status enabled. This is great.

I use folders to manage my workflow:

Inbox
Next Actions
Week's Goals
Projects
Someday
Waiting
Reference
Delegated
(plus a few others)

I STAR tasks that I will do today or week's goals. This ensures that the things I need to accomplish are in my face when I look at the Star list (and avoids me having to use custom searches).

I use the hotlist and Next Actions to determine what I should work on next after doing all my starred items. But I always wanted a way to force things I wanted to do soon, but not today, into my hotlist without adding another layer of folders.

So now: I plan to use the Next Action STATUS for just this purpose! I won't maintain any other statuses, just basically use it as a "force to hotlist" feature, much like Taska allows you to force things onto your Action list.

Awesome.

I swear this morning I saw an option to include Next Actions in my hotlist on the iPhone. But then I checked in ToodleDo online, and that feature is not there. I went back to the iPhone app (having changed Hotlist to follow online settings) and changed to different settings. Lo and behold, the option was no longer there.

If there is any thought of adding that, it would be amazingly helpful!

A suggestion, which has been raised before but not recently:

I use about four or five views to manage my tasks, but they are scattered throughout the different subject areas. For example I use Starred and Hotlist from "Main"; One of my folders (Next Actions) from Folders; And "7 Days" from Due Date. It would be nice to be able to put these folders on the left nav bar, below To-Do List. I could see a list of all folders, default views (like 7 days or Hotlist), tags, contexts, etc, with a checkbox next to each, and the ability to select five or so to display on the nav bar. Just a thought.

Nothing Earth-shattering here, but I am new to ToodleDo and wanted to highlight for other new users the two tips that helped me realize ToodleDo would be indispensable.

1. The default is to sort and group by Importance. If you are not familiar with the concept, it can be off-putting. Recognize that ToodleDo can sort and group by almost anything you want, and it becomes very powerful!

2. When first setting up, start by including just a few fields, then add new ones only as you find you really need them. By following this advice, I have been able to implement every cut of my task list that I've wanted, while keeping the entry and maintenance clean and simple - allowing me to focus on DOING the to-dos rather than fooling around getting organized.

-- PS - This probably should have been in Tips & Tricks. Sorry!

Excellent app, and I am really glad I found it.

PS - I use both the ToodleDo iPhone app and 2Do, and it's a very powerful planning combo (ToodleDo: Use for setting goals, using notebook, and maintaining the structure; 2Do for daily 2Do checking since its interface presents you with tasks right away).

I saw some older posts requesting the following feature, but I'll give it another whirl:

It would be great to be able to convert To-Dos to Notebook entries and vice versa. There are some reference materials I want in my task lists, while others I just want out of the way, but accessible. Any thoughts on whether this feature already exists, or is in the works, or would be valued by others?

On the iPhone App, it is very easy to look at a goal, and then create a To-do linked to that goal. On the Web interface, it seems that you have to flip from the Goals view, back into the To-Do view. Maybe I'm using the Goals view with the wrong expectation and shuld be in the To-Do List view anyway?

I second this. I use folders to manage my work flow. This works great on the web app and would be nice to have on the iPhone.
