Question about Outlines

I have a little problem. Sometimes when making an outline, I will make an error and no text will appear but there's a little dot and a checkbox. I can check it off but it does not delete. It's dampening the beauty of my outlines! :) I hope this makes sense!

We are trying to find out how people are making empty items. If you can please let us know what you did to cause this, we will eliminate the bug.
To get rid of them, check them off and then use the "delete checked items" menu option in the toolbar.
