Quick Task Entry Not Following New Entry Settings

Jake,

The quick entry for new tasks is not following my New Entry settings. I have set new entries to go to "Inbox" folder. When I use the quick entry, the folder is set to whatever folder I am looking at.

I would prefer that quick entry follow my rules by default.

Is this a bug or a feature?

This is by design. Your new entry settings will be used, but then whatever list you are in (folder, for example) will take precedence over that. The idea is that if you are in a folder and you add a new task, most people probably want it to be in that folder. I understand that this isn't what everyone wants, but we had to choose one way.
