I notice that sub-tasks that qualify for my hotlist or that are starred do not show up on my iphone like they do on the web. Is there something I need to change on the iphone app??

For both the website and the iPhone app, subtasks will not appear in a view unless their parent task qualifies to be included in that view as well if you have subtasks under their parent tasks (Hidden or Indented on the web, Nested on the iPhone). To get your subtasks into the view without their parent, you have to tap "Filters", and then "In-line" after "Subtasks".

I can see my sub-task just fine in my Custom Search without the parent.
