Context vs. Folders

I have read GTD, I am a recent convert from RTM. I am trying to find the optimal system of using toodledo. I am REALLY struggling with the concept of contexts and folders. It seems to me that they are quite interchangeable.
I have read many posts on this forum, but I have yet to have the light bulb go off with a ah-ha moment. If anyone can put a different spin on this I would greatly appreciate it. |

Folder are "or" , tags are "and" but when are folder better ? Would sub-subtask be all in all better than folders ? |

FYI...be sure when you recommend using tags that you first check how tags are implemented in toodledo - http://www.toodledo.com/views/tag.php . I find toodledo's implementation unusable.
For tags to be used, they should be implemented the way virtually every other web applications implements them (see, for example, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_(metadata) or http://delicious.com/tag or...I could go on). That is, tasks could have multiple tags and the Tags page display them such that each divider was a single tag. Try using multiple tags on a task and you'll see what I mean. |

For the OP question about Folders vs Contexts, you should use folders for the most part. Contexts are for locations, for example "Store", or perhaps even "Computer", "Internet"... I only have a few contexts. But Folders is ToodleDo's main organization device i think, that and Contexts (TD's #2 i think) is the most flexible. I don't even use Tags. |

I like the concepts of Toodledo and the folders, and sub-tasks. But in many ways I find RTM better/easier. Maybe it's because I have used it for so long.

For me Folders = Lists. That means that I can keep separate lists so that I can narrow my view down to what list I want to work on. Contexts allow even further separation of tasks, by location or similar.
The nice thing about Toodledo is that each person can customize how they use it based on their needs - there is no right way or wrong way to do things. Just find a way that works for you. |

If you read Proximo's GTD setup he has a unique way of doing things that's a good first step to getting your customized GTD/Toodledo system.
