Does anybody know if I can set up my account so that I get an email notification, if for example, my boss assigns me a task using his account?

Notifications when someone assigns you are task are not yet supported, although this is on our to-do list.

Any news on the addition of email notification for added tasks? Would make the collaboration so much better! Thank you-
