Over the last couple days I've not been able to find sub-tasks either via the web API nor on my iPhone. Where did they go?

It had! I just didn't know because I didn't see any warnings.

I thought it does show that for quite a few days when your subscription is about to expire below your name in the left column there. (At least that's what it did when I tried pro subscription for some days).

We display a warning on the website below your name, for about 2 weeks. We also send out a reminder email a few days before it expires. Sometimes these reminders end up in the spam folder. We are thinking about making the on-site warning a little more intrusive, but we don't want to bother people too much.
