Due dates wrong on an imported text file

What am I doing wrong here ? I'm trying to import tasks with a tab-delimited text file.
A whole load of the due dates (and I can't see a pattern) show up as 31/12/1969 (although they were correct on the import preview screen) and others are just randomly (?) wrong.
What could be causing this ?
Grateful for any advice.
