Set/Modify Due Date

I am having problems with setting or modifying a task due date. When I establish the task, the due date drop down menu drops down, but no date would select. Entering a manual date in the window also fails.
Once the task is created, I cannot find any way to modify the (presently) non-existent due date.
Suggestions please.

When you say that manually entering a date fails, exactly what happens? To modify a due-date on a task, just click where it says "no date" and select a date from the popup calendar or type in a date with your keyboard.
