Is there a way to do a search within a note field? Looking for a way to search for key words within the note -- similar to the way the "find" function works within Microsoft Word.

Yes. Open the note field of the concerned task and try Ctrl. F of the browser. If it is any standard web browser (Firefox/Chrome/Opera/IE/Safari) that should work.
