Wondering who's using what saved searches.

I have two main searches that are also replicated in Informant:

* Today

- Starred
- Starts Today
- Due in the next 2 days

* Action Plan

- Starred
- Due in the next 4 days
- Next Action
- In between Start and Due
- Overdue

So, the "Action Plan" is to make sure I don't miss any tasks that are coming due, while the "Today" is to concentrate on the tasks that I need to do, well, today / tomorrow..

Thanks for posting that.

I have quite a few. My main one is my personal version of the Hotlist:

Checked Off | No
and
Folder | is not | Templates
and
Status | is not | Canceled
and
Due Date | is before | tomorrow
or
Start Date | is before | tomorrow
or
Due Date | Doesn't exist
or
Starred | yes
and
Status | is | Next Action
or
Due Date | is before | tomorrow
or
Start Date | is before | tomorrow
or
Starred | yes

I'm open to suggestions to improve it, of course.

I am almost solely using the Search views, mostly at work. My primary search goes as follows (sorted by Importance)

Checked off=no
and
Context=no context
and
Status=none
and

Start Date is before tomorrow
or
Due Date is before tomorrow
or
Starred=yes

and

Folder=Work
or
Folder=InSys

This is accompanied with several also important views: Inbox (=no folder), Upcomming - tasks for next five days starting tomorrow, Inactive - tasks with deferred status (I am not using any of the active statuses). So far it seems to serve well.

I keep most of my completed tasks so that I have a history of my activity. But, for some tasks (especially several repeating tasks) I don't need a record that I completed them, and I don't need them cluttering up my list of completed tasks. I prefer deleting those tasks, but not right away.

Here's my Saved Search:

Checked Off = Yes
Tag contains "Routine"
Date Completed was not in last 14 days.

After I run the Saved Search, I use "Batch Edit This List" and specify Deleted = Yes to delete the tasks.

Great ideas...however, none of your examples include subtasks.

Example: I have parent tasks with child tasks "hidden". Please give me the query syntax to search for subtasks in 2 of 4 specific Parent tasks that have the context of XXX” Thx!

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do, but AFAIK the search works on each (sub)task individually, so unless you have the same context set for both parent and its subtasks, you are out of luck.

But with the context, you could use context=XXX AND IsSubtask=yes.

There is no way to look for a specific parent task and then return its subtasks in a search view.

Thanks Olivir2015! I've been struggling with "Has Subtasks" instead of "IsSubtask". Something so simple....LOL
