Is there a way to sort the notebook items by title?

No, the Notebook items are always sorted by Folder, and then by date modified. If it is worth your while, you could always export as a CSV, and look at them sorted any which way in a spreadsheet program.
EDIT: I lied. You can sort by Title, Date Added, or Date Modified. Just click on the heading for that column at the top of your Notebook list. I never knew that, so thanks for asking.
